The Summer League's rules

The Green Monster were last season's champions - who will it be in 2009?

As you may or may not be fully aware, the Summer Leagues are decided by points average, rather than by points total (the Green Monster won with an average of 39.67 last year). This means we can all go away happy in the knowledge we don't have to be there every single minute of the summer, and believing there might just be a little chance of finally winning something...

Rule Changes

The summer quiz works a bit differently to the regular quiz as people go away on holiday or on home during the summer months.

So what we do is have a short league running through the end of july, August and September after the playoffs for the regular season have finished. Each quiz is hosted by a different team from the regular season. The main rule changes are listed below:

  • Quizmaster´s teams can play that night, but not for money, nor for points.
  • There is no Accumulator during the Summer Leagues.
  • Overall winners are determined by point average over a minimum of five quizzes.
  • Music rounds may come at any time, not just the end of the month.
  • Pot is divided between the top 3 teams: 50% / 35% / 15% (no Accumulator)
  • As always, the quizmaster's decision is final.

Should there be the need to invent further rules I will post them here!
